Seven Teas Inspired by Revolution, Ritual, and Renewal
Opening Steep
Some collections are made to be enjoyed. Others are made to be remembered.
We created the Founders’ Liberty Tea Collection – 1773 to do both.
Inspired by the teas of the Boston Tea Party and the Liberty Tea traditions that followed, this limited-edition seven-tea set invites you to taste one of the most remarkable stories in American history—one cup at a time.
Created in honor of America’s upcoming 250th anniversary, this commemorative release brings together the flavors of colonial tea culture, the spirit of independence, and the enduring rituals that unite people around the table.
Why 1773 Still Matters
December 16, 1773 marked a turning point in history that jump-started the revolution, leading to the Declaration of Independence less than three years later. On that night, colonists boarded ships in Boston Harbor and destroyed 342 chests of imported tea in protest of taxation without representation.
Tea was chosen precisely because it mattered. It lived in homes, habits, hospitality, and daily comfort. To reject it was to sacrifice something familiar in pursuit of principle.
The story did not end there. In the years that followed, many Americans turned to herbal alternatives made from local plants. These became known as Liberty Teas, symbols of resilience and self-reliance.
This collection brings both chapters together: the tea that was lost, and the tea that rose in its place.
