Citrus & Sage Green Tea (loose leaves)

Citrus & Sage Green Tea

Description:

A bright, herbaceous green tea where fresh citrus meets garden herbs—lemongrass and tangerine bring a lively lift, while sage and rosemary create a savory, aromatic finish with a subtle Earl Grey-like impression.

The Experience

Citrus & Sage Green Tea is for the tea drinker who wants something refreshing but a little unexpected.

The blend begins with green tea and layers it with lemongrass and pieces of tangerine for fresh citrus character, then introduces sage and rosemary for an aromatic, distinctly herbal dimension. The result is a light-bodied cup with smooth lemony notes, gentle sage, fragrant herbs, and a subtle Earl Grey-like citrus impression.

Unlike a straightforward lemon green tea, Citrus & Sage moves between bright citrus and savory herbs. That contrast gives the blend enough complexity to keep revealing itself as you drink—and makes it particularly appealing for customers who prefer fresh, botanical flavors over sweet fruit-forward teas.

How to Brew

Use 1 heaping teaspoon with The Perfect Measure Spoon per 8 oz / 237 ml of water at 185°F / 85°C.

Mild: 1–2 minutes
Medium: 2–3 minutes
Strong: 3–5 minutes

For your first cup, we recommend approximately 2–3 minutes. This gives the citrus and herbs time to develop while preserving the lighter character of the green tea. Avoid boiling water. Excessive heat can draw more bitterness and astringency from green tea and overwhelm some of the blend's more delicate aromatic details.

Perfect For

Citrus & Sage is particularly well suited to afternoon tea, meals, warm-weather sipping, iced tea, or whenever you want something fresh and aromatic without a dessert-like flavor profile. Pair it with grilled chicken or fish, salads, goat cheese, roasted vegetables, Mediterranean dishes, lemon pastries, shortbread, or mild savory cheeses.

Sage & Rosemary: More Than Garnish

Sage and rosemary are familiar kitchen herbs, but they become surprisingly complex when used in tea. Rosemary tends to be highly aromatic, with fresh, resinous, and almost pine-like characteristics. Sage is softer but distinctly savory and earthy. Because both herbs can become dominant, successful blending depends on proportion.

Here, they're supporting characters rather than the entire story. The green tea and citrus remain clearly present while the herbs provide an aromatic finish. That balance is important: this should taste like green tea with citrus and herbs—not a cup of culinary herbs with a little tea hidden underneath.

Hot vs. Iced

This blend changes noticeably with temperature.

  • Hot: Sage and rosemary become more aromatic, giving the cup a more botanical and savory personality.
  • Iced: Tangerine and lemongrass move forward, making the tea feel brighter, crisper, and particularly refreshing.

If you aren't sure about herbal notes such as sage or rosemary, try this tea iced. The citrus-forward presentation can be an especially approachable introduction.
