A light, lively green tea layered with bright lemon, juicy raspberry, and delicate rose petals—a colorful fruit-and-floral blend that is especially refreshing over ice.
The Experience
African Sunrise Green Tea is a bright, approachable green tea for customers who enjoy fruit-forward flavor without losing the fresh character of the tea underneath.
The blend begins with sencha green tea, providing a light, gently vegetal foundation. Raspberry brings a juicy red-fruit character, while lemon adds a clean citrus brightness that keeps the berry notes from becoming too sweet. Rose petals provide a delicate floral accent and beautiful contrast in the loose leaf.
This tea is bright, fruity, lightly floral, and refreshing, with raspberry and lemon leading the cup and green tea providing a clean finish. It is equally enjoyable hot, but this is one of our green teas that truly comes alive over ice.

How to Brew
Green tea is best brewed more gently than black tea. Use approximately 1 heaping teaspoon per 8 oz / 237 ml of water at 175–185°F / 80–85°C and steep for approximately 2–3 minutes. Avoid boiling water, which can quickly draw excess bitterness and astringency from the green tea.
For iced tea, brew slightly stronger and pour over plenty of ice. Taste before adding sweetener—the raspberry aroma naturally creates a sweeter impression even without sugar.
Perfect For
African Sunrise is particularly enjoyable for warm afternoons, brunch, garden gatherings, iced-tea pitchers, or anytime you want something brighter and fruitier than a traditional green tea. Pair it with fresh berries, lemon cake, shortbread, fruit tarts, light salads, mild cheeses, tea sandwiches, or vanilla pastries.
Tea Expert Note: Why Raspberry + Lemon?
Raspberry and lemon perform different jobs in a blend. Raspberry brings ripe berry aroma and a soft, juicy fruit impression. Lemon provides contrast. Its bright citrus character lifts the raspberry and keeps the overall profile feeling fresh rather than overly rich.
Underneath both sits the sencha green tea, whose lighter vegetal character gives the fruit a cleaner canvas than a more robust black-tea base would provide. Finally, rose petals add a quiet floral layer rather than competing for attention.
The progression is: Raspberry → lemon → fresh green tea → delicate rose. That balance between fruit, citrus, tea, and flowers is what makes African Sunrise more interesting than a straightforward raspberry green tea.
A Green Tea Made for Ice
If you're deciding whether to brew African Sunrise hot or iced first, we recommend trying it iced. Cold preparation shifts the balance:
-
Hot: The green-tea foundation and rose become somewhat easier to notice.
-
Iced: Raspberry and lemon become especially bright and refreshing.
Brew the tea slightly stronger than usual, then pour it over plenty of ice. A slice of fresh lemon or a few raspberries can make an attractive garnish for entertaining, though neither is necessary for the tea itself.
Packaging: Our loose teas are sold by the ounce and packaged in food-grade resealable bags.
