An organic Japanese matcha with an earthy-forward character, delicate grassy undertones, and gentle astringency. YUUBI 優美 means “elegant beauty”—a name chosen to reflect its quiet refinement and balanced expression.
The Experience
YUUBI 優美 is a refined organic Japanese matcha for those who appreciate the natural character of pure matcha without seeking an intensely rich or umami-dominant cup.
Its medium-light body opens with distinct earthiness, followed by delicate grassy notes. Gentle astringency provides structure and a clean, defined finish. The result is composed and understated: earthy, green, and refined.
We named it YUUBI 優美, meaning “elegant beauty.” The name reflects what we find compelling about this matcha—beauty expressed through balance and restraint.

Tea & Ingredients
Tea Type: Matcha Green Tea
Ingredients: Organic matcha green tea
Added Flavoring: None
Caffeine: Caffeinated
Organic: Yes
Unlike loose-leaf tea, matcha is finely powdered and whisked directly into water, so the tea leaf itself is consumed rather than removed after steeping.
How to Prepare
For a traditional bowl, sift approximately 1 matcha spoon of YUUBI into a matcha bowl. Sifting helps break up small clumps and creates a smoother, more even suspension.
Add approximately 2–3 oz / 60–90 ml of water at 160–175°F / 71–79°C. Using a bamboo chasen, whisk briskly until the matcha is evenly suspended and a fine layer of foam develops across the surface.
Enjoy YUUBI first with water alone. This is the best way to experience its earthy opening, delicate grassy middle, and gently astringent finish. For a lighter cup, simply add additional warm water after whisking.
Traditional preparations to explore:
-
Usucha (Thin Tea): The more familiar whisked preparation of matcha. Use a smaller amount of matcha with more water and whisk briskly to create a fine foam. This lighter preparation clearly reveals YUUBI’s earthiness, delicate grassiness, and clean structure.
-
Koicha (Thick Tea): A traditional concentrated preparation using significantly more matcha and less water. Rather than whisking vigorously for foam, slowly knead and fold the matcha with the chasen until it develops a thick, smooth consistency. Koicha intensifies YUUBI’s earthy depth, body, and natural astringency.
Tea Expert Tip: Water temperature matters. Avoid boiling water, which can exaggerate bitterness and astringency. Begin around 160–175°F / 71–79°C, then experiment within that range to discover how temperature changes YUUBI’s balance of earthiness, grassiness, and structure.
Packaging & Storage
Store matcha tightly sealed and protected from heat, moisture, light, air, and strong odors. Once opened, use it while its aroma and fresh green character are at their best.

Begin with YUUBI 優美, then compare it with MATSUBA 松葉 and Gyokuro Matcha using the same preparation method. A side-by-side tasting reveals one of matcha's most important lessons: pure matcha is not one flavor. Differences in the tea itself can produce dramatically different expressions of body, vegetation, earthiness, astringency, and umami.
YUUBI vs. MATSUBA vs. Gyokuro Matcha
Churchill's pure matchas are selected to offer different expressions.
YUUBI 優美 — Organic (This Matcha)

Think of them not as good, better, best, but as three distinct personalities:
-
MATSUBA is light and smooth.

YUUBI is earthy and refined.
- Gyokuro is full and meditative.
YUUBI is particularly suited to traditional matcha preparation, mindful tea rituals, comparative tastings, and tea drinkers ready to explore pure matcha beyond flavored preparations.
Taste it as Usucha first, then prepare it more concentrated and notice how changing the tea-to-water ratio alters your perception of body, earthiness, grassiness, and astringency.
