Santorini Sunset Black Tea (loose leaves)

Santorini Sunset Black Tea

Description:

Sweet fig and apple drift over an elegant blend of black and green teas, creating a smooth, medium-bodied cup with a delicate fruitiness inspired by long evenings on the Greek islands.

The Experience

Santorini Sunset is for the tea drinker who wants fruit without overwhelming sweetness and black tea without too much weight.

This visually striking blend combines black and green teas with apple, generous pieces of freeze-dried fig, and blue cornflower blossoms. A distinctive black Chinese Sencha contributes both to the appearance and character of the tea, while green Sencha brings a lighter dimension to the base.

Fig is the star. Its mellow, honeyed fruit character feels softer and deeper than brighter fruits such as raspberry or citrus, while apple adds a familiar sweetness underneath. The combination of black and green tea keeps the cup balanced and surprisingly delicate.

The result is smooth, softly fruity, and aromatic—a tea made for slowing down for a few minutes.

Tea & Ingredients

Tea Type: Flavored Black & Green Tea Blend
Origin: China
Flavor Profile: Fig • Apple • Soft Fruit
Ingredients: Black tea, black sencha, apple pieces, freeze-dried fig pieces, green tea, Sencha, flavoring, cornflower blossoms
Caffeine: Yes
Body: Medium

How to Brew

Use 1 level teaspoon per 6 oz of water at 203–212°F and steep for 4–5 minutes.

Because Santorini Sunset contains teas, fruit pieces, and flowers of very different sizes, gently mix the loose tea before measuring to help distribute the ingredients more evenly. For your first cup, we recommend drinking it straight. Milk can easily cover the more delicate fig and green-tea character.

Perfect For

Santorini Sunset is particularly suited to slow afternoons, garden gatherings, after-dinner tea, or anytime you want something fruity without choosing a bright or intensely sweet blend. Pair it with fig pastries, mild cheeses, honey cake, almond cookies, shortbread, fresh pears, baklava, or lightly sweet pastries.

Why Fig Tastes Different From Other Fruit Teas

If your usual fruit teas are peach, raspberry, mango, or citrus, fig offers a noticeably different experience. It isn't particularly tart. Instead, fig tends toward a soft, ripe, almost honeyed fruit character. That makes it especially compatible with a tea designed to be mellow rather than intensely refreshing.

Apple supports that sweetness without competing with the fig, while the black-and-green tea base gives the fruit enough structure to keep the cup from becoming one-dimensional.

Think of Santorini Sunset as moving away from juicy fruit and toward mellow, ripe fruit.

What Is “Black Sencha”?

This is one of the more unusual details of Santorini Sunset. Most tea drinkers associate the word Sencha with Japanese green tea. In this blend, however, the supplier specifically identifies a significant portion as black Chinese Sencha, alongside green tea and Sencha.

“Sencha” in this context describes a leaf style rather than telling us that the tea is traditional Japanese Sencha. The supplied origin for the blend is China. We make that distinction because tea terminology can be confusing. Rather than assuming that every tea labeled “Sencha” comes from Japan, it's worth looking at origin, processing, and the complete ingredient list to understand what's actually in the blend.

Why Blend Black and Green Tea?

The combination helps explain why Santorini Sunset feels different from a conventional flavored black tea. Black tea contributes depth and body. Green tea contributes a lighter, fresher dimension. Neither completely dominates.

That makes the base particularly well suited to fig. A very robust black tea could overwhelm its softer character, while a delicate green tea alone might not provide enough structure. Together, they create a middle ground: Sweet fig → mellow apple → layered tea → soft finish.

A Mediterranean Mood, Not a Greek Tea

Santorini Sunset is named for the atmosphere it evokes: figs, blue blossoms, and the idea of lingering over tea while watching the sun disappear over the Greek islands. The name should not be confused with its origin.

This is not a tea grown in Santorini or a traditional Greek tea. The supplied origin is China, and its ingredients combine Chinese teas with fruit, flowers, and flavoring. We think the distinction is worth making. A beautiful name can transport you somewhere, while the ingredient list tells you where the tea actually comes from. Santorini supplies the inspiration. The tea tells the rest of the story.
