Inflammation Be Gone Decaffeinated Green Tea

Description:

A Churchill’s-exclusive blend of decaffeinated sencha, lemongrass, and lemon verbena—fresh, clean, and citrus-herbal, with significantly less caffeine than traditional green tea.

The Experience

Inflammation Be Gone Decaffeinated Green Tea is one of Churchill’s exclusive Artisan House Blends, created to offer a beautifully simple, lower-caffeine green tea with a fresh botanical character.

The blend brings together just three ingredients: decaffeinated sencha green tea, lemongrass, and lemon verbena leaves. Sencha provides the light, gently vegetal foundation; lemongrass introduces a crisp citrus note; and lemon verbena adds a softer, more aromatic lemon-herbal quality. The result is light, refreshing, naturally lemony, and remarkably clean. There are no added flavors listed—the character of the cup comes from the tea and botanicals themselves.

Despite its longstanding name, we recommend choosing this tea for its ingredients, flavor, and lower-caffeine profile rather than interpreting the name as a health claim.

How to Brew

Because the foundation is sencha green tea, we recommend a gentler preparation than you would use for black tea. Use approximately 1 teaspoon per 8 oz / 237 ml of water at 175–185°F / 80–85°C and steep for 2–3 minutes.

For your first cup, avoid boiling water. A gentler temperature helps preserve the fresh character of the sencha, lemongrass, and lemon verbena.

For iced tea, brew slightly stronger before pouring over ice for a particularly crisp, refreshing cup.

Perfect For

This blend is particularly appealing for afternoon and evening sipping, warm-weather iced tea, after-meal tea, or anytime you want something lighter than a traditional black tea. Pair it with fresh fruit, shortbread, citrus desserts, cucumber sandwiches, light salads, mild cheeses, or simple vegetable and rice dishes.

From the Churchill’s Blending Table

Part of our Artisan House Blend collection, Inflammation Be Gone represents one of the ways we approach blending at Churchill’s: begin with the tea, then use botanicals purposefully rather than simply adding more ingredients. Here, each ingredient has a clear role:

  • Decaffeinated Sencha → the light, vegetal tea foundation
  • Lemongrass → crisp, bright citrus character
  • Lemon Verbena → softer, aromatic lemon-herbal complexity

Together, three ingredients create a cup with more dimension than the short ingredient list might suggest.

As a Churchill’s-exclusive blend, this is also a tea you won't simply find under the same recipe among our standard supplier offerings. It is part of the collection that expresses our own point of view about what deserves a place on Churchill’s tea wall.

Tea Expert Note: Lemongrass vs. Lemon Verbena

Although both botanicals suggest lemon, they contribute noticeably different qualities. Lemongrass is bright, fresh, and citrusy with an underlying grassy character. Lemon verbena is highly aromatic and more softly herbal, with a fragrance reminiscent of fresh lemon.

Combining the two creates layers without requiring added lemon flavoring: Bright lemongrass → aromatic lemon verbena → soft sencha → clean herbal finish. That distinction is worth noticing because the ingredient list contains no lemon fruit and no added flavoring. The citrus impression comes naturally from the botanicals.

What Is Sencha?

Sencha is a style of green tea traditionally associated with Japan. In this blend, decaffeinated sencha provides the tea foundation beneath the lemongrass and lemon verbena.

This means Inflammation Be Gone isn't an herbal infusion. It contains genuine tea from the Camellia sinensis plant, giving the cup a subtle vegetal structure that distinguishes it from a purely herbal lemon blend.

Decaffeinated Isn't Caffeine-Free

Because sencha comes from the tea plant, it naturally contains caffeine before decaffeination. The decaffeination process removes most of that caffeine, but small residual amounts may remain.

If you're looking to reduce caffeine while continuing to enjoy green tea, this blend is an excellent option. If complete caffeine avoidance is important, choose one of our naturally caffeine-free herbal or rooibos teas instead.

About the Name “Inflammation Be Gone”

Inflammation Be Gone is the longstanding name of this Churchill’s Artisan House Blend; it is not a medical claim.

We do not claim that this tea prevents, treats, or cures inflammation or any other medical condition, and tea should not be used as a substitute for appropriate medical care. What we can tell you with confidence is exactly what Churchill’s has blended into your cup: Decaffeinated sencha green tea + lemongrass + lemon verbena leaves.

We invite you to choose it for what those ingredients actually deliver: a light green-tea foundation, naturally fresh citrus-herbal flavor, a remarkably simple ingredient list, and significantly less caffeine than traditional green tea.

Packaging: Our loose teas are sold by the ounce and packaged in food-grade resealable bags.
