Hot Cincinnati Spice Green Tea (loose leaves)

Hot Cincinnati Spice Green Tea

Description:

Bold cinnamon, sweet clove, and a touch of orange meet Chinese green tea in a lighter interpretation of Churchill’s beloved Hot Cincinnati Spice profile—intensely aromatic, naturally sweet-tasting, and unmistakably spicy.

The Experience

Hot Cincinnati Spice Green Tea takes the bold cinnamon character our customers love and gives it a lighter green-tea foundation.

Chinese green tea is blended with three types of cinnamon, cloves, and orange peel. Cinnamon leads with warming sweetness and lively spice, clove adds depth, and orange provides a subtle citrus lift.

Compared with the black-tea version, the body is lighter and fresher—but the cinnamon is every bit as enthusiastic. One of the biggest surprises? Many customers assume this tea contains sugar. It doesn't. There is no added sugar or sweetener in the ingredient declaration.

Tasting Notes

Top: Bold cinnamon • Sweet spice
Mid: Clove • Chinese green tea
Finish: Orange • Lingering cinnamon warmth
Body: Medium

Why You’ll Love It

  • A green-tea interpretation of Churchill’s popular Hot Cincinnati Spice
  • Made with three types of cinnamon
  • Sweet clove and orange peel add complexity
  • Lighter than the black-tea version while retaining its bold spice
  • Tastes remarkably sweet without added sugar or sweetener
  • Delicious hot or iced

Tea, Origin & Ingredients

Tea Type: Flavored Green Tea
Tea Origin: China
Flavor Profile: Cinnamon • Clove • Orange
Ingredients: Green tea, orange peel, three types of cinnamon, cloves, natural and artificial flavors
Added Sugar/Sweetener: None listed
Caffeine: Caffeinated
Body: Medium

How to Brew

Use approximately 1 heaping teaspoon per 8 oz / 237 ml of water at 175°F / 79°C.

Steep for 2-3 minutes. Don't brew this tea like the black version simply because the spices are equally bold. The cooler water helps keep the underlying green tea smooth while allowing the cinnamon and clove to develop fully.

Perfect For

Hot Cincinnati Spice Green Tea is particularly suited to cinnamon lovers, Hot Cincinnati Spice fans curious about green tea, fall and winter sipping, holiday gatherings, or anyone who enjoys bold flavor without adding sugar to the cup. Pair it with apple desserts, cinnamon pastries, ginger cookies, pumpkin bread, dark chocolate, roasted nuts, or vanilla cake. It is also surprisingly refreshing iced, when the cinnamon remains bold while the green tea gives the cup a cleaner finish.

Tea Expert Note: Why Does It Taste Sweet Without Sugar?

Cinnamon is strongly associated with sweetness in both aroma and flavor. Combined with the blend's flavoring, that aromatic intensity can create a powerful perception of sweetness even without added sugar. It's a useful tea-tasting lesson: sweet-tasting does not necessarily mean sweetened.

Why Three Types of Cinnamon?

Cinnamon isn't a single uniform flavor. Different types can emphasize characteristics ranging from aromatic sweetness to deeper woody warmth and more assertive spice. Combining three types of cinnamon creates a broader cinnamon profile. Clove adds darker aromatic depth, while orange peel provides citrus contrast. This is intentionally a cinnamon-forward tea, not a green tea with a delicate hint of spice.

A Cincinnati Favorite, Reimagined

Hot Cincinnati Spice has become closely associated with Churchill’s Cincinnati tea experience: bold cinnamon, warming clove, citrus, and an almost surprising sense of sweetness.

This green version reimagines that familiar character with a lighter foundation. It remains unmistakably bold while offering customers another way to explore one of our signature flavor profiles.

Packaging: Our loose teas are sold by the ounce and packaged in food-grade resealable bags.

Explore Spice Through Tea

Start with Hot Cincinnati Spice Green for bold cinnamon and clove on Chinese green tea, then compare it with Hot Cincinnati Spice Black for a deeper, more robust interpretation.

Hot Cincinnati Spice Green Tea (This Tea)
Cinnamon • Clove • Orange • Fresher
Best for: bold spice on a lighter green-tea foundation

Hot Cincinnati Spice Black Tea
Cinnamon • Clove • Orange • Robust
Best for: the same flavor family with greater black-tea depth

The green version feels lighter and fresher; the black version feels deeper and more robust. The comparison lets you experience how much the tea underneath contributes even when the dominant spices remain familiar.

For a different approach, explore Bombay Spiced Chai Green Tea, where ginger, cardamom, cinnamon, and clove create a more complex chai-inspired spice profile.

Best Tea Ever!

A friend of mine just gave me some of this tea to try along with some to take home. I used to eat Atomic Fireballs and it reminds me of a liquid version of those when made. I am in heaven as I drink it and it makes me think of my friend and her kindness every time I take a sip.

Hot Cincinnati Spice Green Tea

This tea is SO delicious! If you enjoy drinking tea to stave off a sweet craving- this is an absolute must. It's sweet but spicy, similar to a red hot. It's my absolute favorite tea to drink once the temperature cools down (especially in the fall!).

Hot Cincinnati Spice Green Tea

My mom and I took our first mom n daughter trip in May and stumbled on this great store and found this tea! I blew through 2 Oz in no time and my mom bought me 16 more and had it shipped within a couple days! The tea is so flavorful and nothing else needs to be added to experience its full taste, the people so helpful, and it created a lifetime memory! Thank you! ♡
