THANKSGIVING FOOD AND TEA PAIRING
It is becoming increasingly popular to pair tea with your favorite meals, but Thanksgiving can be difficult to figure out which tea to serve because there are so many competing flavors. What pairs with turkey, but also pairs with green bean casserole? What goes with mashed potatoes and with apple pie?
Thanksgiving dinner has elements of sweet, sour, salty, and umami. We recommend either choosing a flavored tea (blended with fruits, florals, or spices) that highlights the dish with a starring role in your Thanksgiving feast OR choosing purists teas that pair with each course. We put together a list of teas that pair with many traditional Thanksgiving dishes and courses.
For teas based on which dish you want to have that extra pop from your pairing:
Dinner
Turkey – Orange Passion Oolong Tea
Mashed Potatoes – Milk Silk Oolong Tea
Cranberries – Cranberry Orange Black Tea
Traditional Stuffing – Pistachio Pu-erh Tea
Cornbread Stuffing – Genmaicha Green Tea
Green Bean Casserole – Moscow Nights Black Tea
Candied Yams/Sweet Potato Casserole – Hot Cincinnati Spice Rooibos
Dessert
Pumpkin Pie – Pumpkin Spiced Chai Black Tea
Pecan Pie – Turkish Bazaar Black Tea
Apple Pie – Apple Strudel Herbal Blend
For teas paired by course, we suggest the following:
Dinner – Vithanakande Black Tea or Dragonwell Green Tea
Dessert – French Breakfast Black Tea or Wuyishan Oolong
After the meal – Pistachio Pu-erh Tea, Good Fortune Pu-erh Tea, or Peppermint Herbal
We hope you enjoy!
