The Tea Research Foundation of Kenya developed this new Purple Tea cultivar, which is grown exclusively in Kenya.
Churchill’s Purple Tea comes from the high elevation of Nandi Hills in the Great Rift Valley of Southwestern Kenya. The tea leaves are purple because they contain anthocyanin, the same antioxidants found in blueberries, pomegranates and acai berries. This results in a delicious tasting tea that also offers great health benefits. Churchill’s currently offers four varieties of purple tea, including purist Kenyan Highlands Purple Tea and three naturally flavored blends, Sangria, Parisian and Jasmine.
For brewing, we suggest using 180 degrees for 4 minutes (between green and oolong teas).
